Who

Steve McKay is a Toronto-based writer, editor and design artist. Once described by an ex-girlfriend’s mother as being "very gregarious", Steve always aims to please. He likes to write words, think up teevee shows, do art, people watch, wander aimlessly, have homemade dance parties and make with the funny. He is fierce like a mighty river…but he hugs like a gentle goth.

Oh, what a long and storied past. He co-wrote the comedic feature HAYSEED, which did the festival circuit and was sold for broadcast. Steve is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre, where he optioned a story to CTV. Ever a lover of life on the margins, he has gone on to work as a writer for a gay/sports/comedy show called THE LOCKER ROOM and a reality/wedding show called EXCHANGING VOWS. He was co-founder of ROSCO - a sardonic arts/culture magazine and CANDY COATED PRESS, an independent comic book company. He was a guest writer for nerve.com’s sex, pop culture and celebrity blog SCANNER. The screenplay THE SCARLET AVENGER, that he co-wrote, recently won the WILDsound fall screenplay contest. Steve is a co-founder of GREASY SPOON PRODUCTIONS and is currently developing two animated television projects – TALES FROM THE MIDNIGHT DINER and THE UNEXPLAINABLES.
